When you rent a car from AVIS, you are responsible
for returning the vehicle in the same conditions you received
it.
CDW (Collision, damage, waiver)
C.D.W. covers in case of collision or damages.
It reduces your responsability.
Deductibles US$ 1000 for all the car groups.
If
the car is stolen, deductible payment is US$ 2000
AVIS recommends this protection when renting any car
Exception
C.D.W and deductibles can be
waived with some credit cards issued in U.S.A and Canada
that have a car rental insurance program. Please check with
your credit card rental insurance department.
LIABILITY (API)
This protection covers in case of third party damages and goes
from US$ 9 per day (Groups B,C,E,O, K), to US$ 13 per
day (Group I,H,P).
This protection (API) is mandatory for customers who declined
C.D.W.
No credit card insurance program covers third party liability.
Please check with your credit card rental insurance department.
ADDITIONAL
INSURANCE INFORMATION
Read carefully the
insurance options that are available when renting a car from
Avis Costa Rica:
| OPTION 1 |
The CDW
(Collision Damage Waiver) and deductibles can be waived
with certain credit cards issued commonly in U.S .A
or Canada and that have a car rental insurance program.
Verify this with your credit card insurance department.
However in case of waive the CDW the customer will have
to purchase the API (liability or civil responsibility)
which is not covered by the credit card insurance program. |
| OPTION 2 |
Full cover
additional Insurance The customer can choose this option
if the credit card company does not offer the CDW or
the Insurance protection. In the event of theft or damages
to the Avis car, the customer will be waived of all
responsibility regardless of who is at fault. No deductible
will be charged.
To get this additional insurance the customer has to
pay the CDW and an additional amount of US $ 9.95 /
day.
There are some restrictions that apply for this option
and the customer needs to read them at our sales counter
before purchasing it. |
| OPTION 3 |
If the customer do not have
or does not want the first or second option he/her will
need to accept the obligatory CDW (collision damage waiver)
which includes the liability too.
In the event of theft or damages to the Avis car, the
renter will be responsible for a maximum deductible of
US $ 1000 in case of damages or US $ 2000 if the car is
stolen. |
* For any of the above mentioned
options a credit card will always be required a credit card
guarantee about US $ 1.500 at the beginning of the rental.
The renter will be responsible for the full cost of damage or
theft if the car is driven in violation of the rental agreement
, that is if the car is abused or driven recklessly or while
under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The insurance does not cover the car´s contents or personal
possessions. |
